Here are some photos of everything that's going on:
This spring and summer has been a crazy one for everyone at Gumz Farms. We have multiple building projects going on, are working on changing audit schemes for our packing shed, welcomed a new office employee in our HR department, Tonya, and have been working on that transition since April, and are completing all of these changes while keeping up with normal business. Normal business being packing onions and potatoes, planting this spring, and keeping up with field work and equipment maintenance. Wow, that was a mouthful! Here are some photos of everything that's going on:

Second up, onions: If you would like to see video of some of these processes, visit our YouTube channel.
We haven't had a blog post in a while, but things have finally slowed down a bit for me, so I'm catching up with getting you updated with this year's harvest. First up, potatoes: If you would like to see video of some of these processes, visit our YouTube channel.
With all the rain we've been having lately, over SEVEN inches for the month of June already, we haven't been able to get into the fields and spray some of the crops like we like. Yesterday night we had a plane come out and spray for us, but today we had a helicopter. It was so {cool} to watch! Here are two videos to show you as well as a couple of pictures... the helicopter was spraying potato fields. Enjoy!
Yesterday I was able to capture some video of the guys planting seed potatoes and onion seeds. As you'll see in the videos, when planting seed potatoes, we don't need to build the beds special, the potato planter does that. However for the onion seeds, there's an extra step of building the beds. Feel free to email, call, etc. with any questions you may have for us!
This past week we've finally been able to try to get in some of the fields... We've got some onion sets in, some mint roots planted, and more. Check out the field video below of Al and Doug and his guys planting some onion sets over at Lewiston. Happy April you all and welcome to the Gumz Farms first ever blog post!
The Pioneer Seed bins arrived earlier last month and were all set up. On a sunny morning, it's a gorgeous view from the road as you drive up to the farm! We are very excited to be able to offer bulk seed treating (for soybeans) as one of our services. Just last week, the rest of the equipment (conveyor, tender, bulk tank, etc.) was installed and we'll be able to show case the entire system at our April 9th Pre-Planting Customer Appreciation Open House! We also will have video footage of the installation available for us to share with you hopefully by June! Below are some pictures of the installation process: |
