  • Machine Operator

    Gumz Farms is looking for a 1st shift Machine Operator in our Production Department. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining various types of machinery in a manufacturing environment. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting. The Machine Operator will play a crucial role in ensuring production goals are met while adhering to safety and quality standards.

    Major Duties and Responsibilities:

    Operate and monitor machinery to ensure optimal performance and quality output. 

    Manage product changeovers for efficiencies

    Check bag weights

    Keep working area clean

    Routine maintenance of packing equipment

    Check quality of product 

    Keep datecode up to date

    Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules while maintaining high-quality standards

    Notify needed repairs to maintenance

    Perform routine maintenance on machines, including cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting as necessary

    Maintain high quality food safety

    Ability to understand customer orders

    Ensure all packaging information is correct

    Work productively as a team member by showing a willingness to take on other tasks when not working as a machine operator.

    Job Requirements:

    Must be at least 18 years.

  • Material Handler

    Gumz Farms is looking for a Material Handler for nights and weekends for our Shipping and Receiving Department. Material Handlers are responsible for all loading and unloading of inbound and outbound shipments as directed. The Material Handler will be required to achieve company standards for safety, quality and productivity.

    Major Duties and Responsibilities:

    Be aware of surroundings and operate in a safe manner

    Move merchandise to storage locations

    Building, picking, and packing pallets

    Adhere to all Food Safety and GMP Policies

    Ability to locate and understand customer repack orders

    Ability to identify correct package sizes for customer orders

    Ensure all information on packages are correct

    Ensure that all packages are sufficiently sealed

    Maintain forklifts and immediately report all accidents

    Carryout simple maintenance on the forklift, like safety check, charging battery and refueling

    Identify and report mechanical and electrical faults to the supervisor or to the correct technician

    Communicate with leads, supervisors, managers, QC personnel, etc. as needed

    Record lot numbers on pack out sheet and keep pack outs up-to-date

    Weigh goods and record the weight in a log sheet

    Willingness to work extended weeks/overtime

    Work productively as a team member

    Awareness of work area for cleanliness and safety hazards

    Commitment for the care and proper maintenance of equipment and property

    Take initiative to perform other duties when not operating forklift

    Job Requirements:

    Must be at least 18 years. 

    Preference given to those with prior experience operating a forklift

    Strong ability to estimate functional spaces to operate equipment

    Must be a good communicator with the ability to adhere to instructions

    Good math skills 

    Organized and able to ensure correct loads are loaded properly

    He/she must be able to work in different positions for a very long period – stand, sit, bend, and kneel

    High school or general education degree (GED) required

    Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, squat, kneel, bend, twist and reach

    Use of hands and fingers required to manipulate machine and other tools

    Must be able to stand and walk constantly

    Must be able to grip, grasp, push, pull, reach and stoop

    Must be able to lift/carry products to 50 lbs. at varying frequencies

  • Farm Mechanic/ Equipment Operator

    Gumz Farms is seeking a 1st shift Farm Mechanic and Equipment Operator. Experienced mechanic duties will include repair and maintenance on all type of farm equipment. Our ideal candidate will have great attention to detail, the ability to work well with other and the ability to troubleshoot and order parts.

    Major Duties and Responsibilities:

    Diagnose, adjust, repair, maintain, and overhaul farm machinery and vehicles, such as tractors, harvesting equipment, forklifts, trucks, and many other types of mechanical objects.

    Conduct preventative maintenance as scheduled or directed and maintain appropriate records

    Diagnose and repair mechanical issues with heavy equipment, including engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems.

    Conduct electrical system checks and perform repairs as needed.

    Use hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to complete repairs.

    Utilize OEM knowledge to identify and replace faulty components.

    Perform routine inspections on heavy equipment to identify potential issues before they become major problems.

    Keep accurate records of all work performed on equipment.

    Stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and technologies in equipment repair.

    Collaborate with other mechanics and operators to ensure all equipment is in good working condition.

    Work with other mechanics to complete tasks in a timely manner

    Work in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines.

    Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines.

    Operate machines when necessary.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    Must be a good communicator with the ability to follow instructions.

    Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods. 

    Willingness to work extended weeks/overtime

    Work productively as a team member.

    Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.

    Experience in diesel and gasoline engine repair and maintenance.

    Electrical experience is very helpful.

    Aptitude for solving mechanical and hydraulic problems.

    Comfortable working outdoors in harsh conditions

    Being bilingual is a plus.

    Reliable attendance.

    Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.

    Self-directed, with the ability to prioritize workload.

    Disciplined, able to meet deadlines and repair-time guidelines
